Longest sequences without a duck
Rajneesh Gupta
July 18, 2006

England [Images] wicket-keeper Geraint Jones is under the scanner these days for his batting ability or rather the lack of it.

But slowly and without anyone's notice he has got a batting record on his name, which not even some of the great names in Test cricket have managed against their names.

Jones has now played 46 innings in Test cricket without getting dismissed for a duck even once! In all Test cricket there have been only three better performances if we take into consideration the longest sequences without a duck for any batsman since their Test debut.

The table is headed by Sri Lanka's [Images] Aravinda de Silva, who got his first duck in his 76th innings.

If Jones decides to retire from Test cricket right now, he will do so with a world record against his name. In other words he will head the list of batsmen who have not been dismissed for a duck in their entire Test career.

Jones moved ahead of Australia's Jim Burke in the Lord's Test against Pakistan.
