Adam Gilchrist [Images] has been fined 40 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC [Images] Code of Conduct during Australia's [Images] second One-Day International in the VB series against South Africa [Images].

Gilchrist pleaded guilty to showing dissent during the match, at a hearing, in Adelaide on Wednesday, conducted by ICC Match Referee Jeff Crowe.

Gilchrist was found to have breached 1.3 of the ICC Code, which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse".

"Adam immediately pleaded guilty to the charge, understanding the need to end this sort of action on the field during play," said Crowe.

All Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee.

The charge was brought by the on-field umpires Simon Taufel and Aleem Dar and television umpire Daryl Harper.

Jeff Crowe reached his conclusion after the hearing, attended by Gilchrist, Australian team manager Steve Bernard and umpires Dar and Harper.
