The Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar [Images] on Friday said the Asian Test playing countries would jointly bid for the 2011 or 2015 World Cup.

Talking briefly to reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore [Images] after his meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf [Images] in Islamabad, Pawar said the decision regarding the World Cup would be taken soon.

"I want that India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka [Images] jointly bid for the World Cup. But we would first discuss the proposal and then decide about the bidding," he said.

According to ICC's [Images] rotation policy, Australia have the right to host the 2011 World Cup while Asia would be awarded the 2015 World Cup. However, if Australia surrender their right, Asia would be offered the opportunity to stage the event for the third time.

Pawar said Thursday's ICC meeting was very productive and emphasised that the television rights issue would be amicably solved.

Pawar termed his meeting with President Musharraf as "very interesting."

"The President has a good knowledge of the game. He wished both the teams good luck and hoped that they would play the highest quality of cricket. He wants that the matches to be played in good, positive spirit," Pawar said.
