Mumbai coasted to an eight-wicket victory as they comfortably overhauled the target of 214 runs set by Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' league match at the Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Bolstered by an unbeaten 72 runs by Vinit Indulkar and a classic 64 by Sushant Marathe, the Mumbai batsmen ran roughshod over on the final day of the match.

Earlier in the day, Gujarat, who resumed at 190 for 8, were dismissed for 220 in the second innings.

Sushant Marathe, sent in to open the innings along with Sahil Kukreja, began on a confident note. Both effectively countered Gujarat's new-ball attack and gave Mumbai a good start.

Gujarat's cause was not helped with Parthiv flooring a difficult nick by Marathe off Siddharth Trivedi in the 11th over.

However, Gujarat got the first breakthrough when Kukreja (26) was snapped up by Ashraf Makada just two overs before lunch. Mumbai went into lunch at 54 for 1 in 23 overs.

In the post-lunch session both Marathe and the new batsman Vinit Indulkar played an array of postive strokes which helped their team cruise towards the victory target.

Marathe played a straight-drive to a Trivedi delivery to score a boundary and bring up his 50 in the 38th over. His 50 came in 122 balls and 161 minutes.
