The six-nation Asia Cup cricket tournament will be held in Pakistan in September 2007, the Asian Cricket Council said today.

"The Asia Cup has been postponed till 2007 September," Sharad Pawar [Images], who took over as ACC president, told reporters in Delhi.

The tournament was originally scheduled to take place next month but was postponed on India's request to allow their players some break before the England [Images] series.

Pawar was officialy declared president at the ACC's Executive Board meeting.

The Union agriculture minister replaced Jagmohan Dalmiya, who stepped down from the post soon after the BCCI elections last November.

Pawar also said the Indian government had cleared Karachi as a Test venue.

"There is no problem with Karachi," Pawar said.
