Jayawardene undergoes appendix surgery December 21, 2006 11:24 IST Jayawardene played both matches of the recent Test series, which was drawn 1-1, but was not part of the squad for two Twenty20 games and five one-day internationals over the next three weeks. He was struck on the wrist by a ball from New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond during the second Test and was unable to keep wicket in the hosts' second innings. All-rounder Malinga Bandara and Ruchira Perera are due to join up with the one-day squad after completing a Sri Lanka A tour of West Indies on Friday.
