Australia captain Ricky Ponting said he was "elated" after winning back the Ashes with a 206-run victory over England in the third Test on Monday.

"We've been very good there is no doubt about it," Ponting told Australian television. "We've worked hard for this. There have been moments in this series when we have been tested but we have come through it." England won back the Ashes last year for the first time since 1989.

"It is probably even more special having lost the Ashes last time," Ponting said. "Elation is the feeling rather than relief. We've worked hard to get back the Ashes but I'm looking for another couple of good performances in the last two Tests."

Australia lead the five-match series 3-0.
