An unbeaten 142 by Ravneet Ricky and Karan Goel's 95 helped Punjab gain a first innings lead of 113 runs over Gujarat on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match in Mohali on Saturday.

Resuming at 25 for no loss, the hosts had little problem in overhauling Gujarat's first innings total of 208 and were comfortably placed 321 for two in reply at close.

Ricky was unbeaten on 142, which was laced with 12 boundaries and a six. He shared an unbroken stand of 73 runs for the third wicket with Gaurav Gupta, who was not out on 32.

Except for H Mazumdar who ended the day with respectable figures of 2 for 70, the Gujarat bowlers failed to make any impact.

Ricky and Goel added 179 runs for the opening wicket stand before the latter was caught behind by N D Modi.

Modi kept the wickets in the absence of Parthiv Patel, who left the field due to injury.

Goel's 95 included 13 boundaries and a six.
