South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs [Images], wanted by the Delhi police for interrogation in the match-fixing case, will visit India for the Champions Trophy to sort out matters once and for all, team coach Micky Arthur said.

"This is one of the reasons we are leaving for India a little earlier than was originally planned. We want Herschelle's situation to be sorted out completely before serious cricket begins," Arthur said.

The interest around Gibbs follows reports over the past few days that he is keen to travel to India despite the fear of the police interrogating him about the match-fixing scandal of 2000.

Police want Gibbs and spin bowler Nicky Boje to answer certain questions, as their names figure in the taped conversation between late former South Africa skipper Hansie Cronje [Images] and Indian bookmakers during South Africa's tour of 1999/2000.

Gibbs has been quoted as saying that if he is selected he would like to travel to India with his lawyer.

The team for the premier one-day competition, to be held in October-November, will be selected at a meeting later in the day, a Cricket South Africa spokesperson said.
