The Board of Control for Cricket in India has given permission to India captain Sourav Ganguly [Images] to play for Glamorgan County club in England [Images].

Ganguly has been permitted to play for the county subject to the condition that he would be released for any assignment of the Indian cricket team, BCCI secretary S K Nair said in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Ganguly had been informed of the Board's decision, he said.

Nair said Ganguly's request to Board President Ranbir Singh Mahendra seeking permission to play for the Glamorgan county was considered by BCCI on Thursday.

"Considering all the aspects, the Board decided to permit Ganguly to play for the county, subject to the condition that the county should release him for any assignment of the Indian team, should he be selected," the BCCI said in a letter faxed to Ganguly this morning.
