Atapattu reappointed SL captain May 12, 2005 20:47 IST Sri Lanka have reappointed Marvan Atapattu as Test and one-day captain for their series against West Indies and India. Atapattu, 34, was appointed one-day captain after the resignation of Sanath Jayasuriya in April 2003, and Test captain after the resignation of Hashan Tillakaratne last year. Sri Lanka are due to play a two-match Test series against West Indies starting on July 15 and a seven-match tri-series also involving India that starts on August 1. The dates and venues for the series are still to be confirmed. The new five-man selection panel met earlier in the week and the reappointment of Atapattu was ratified by the sports minister.
