Laxman happy to be selected

An elated VVS Laxman is confident of making it to the final eleven of the World team after being picked as a probable by the ICC [Images] for the Super Test against Australia in October.

"I'm very happy that I made it to the probables of the ICC World XI and am confident that I will make it to the final playing eleven in the Super Test," Laxman said, on the sidelines of the inauguration of a cricket coaching camp in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Laxman was one of the 30 players selected by the ICC on Monday for the Super Test Series, which will be held in Sydney from October 14 to 19. The ICC also named another 30-member squad for three one-dayers against the world champions.

"It's a great honour to be selected in the World XI. Perhaps, my performance in Australia played a big role in finding me a place among the top players of the world," Laxman said.

The stylish middle-order batsman said he has started fitness training for the past two weeks and would concentrate more on that aspect ahead of the cricket season.

Laxman will also be going to England [Images] to play Club cricket.

"Nevertheless, I will keep my game going and try to have a good season this year," he said.

The batsman from Hyderabad had earlier wondered why he was dropped in the one-day series against Pakistan despite having a good batting record.
