Former Test cricketer and 1983 World Cup winning member Mohinder Amarnath said he was yet to receive any communication from the Board of Control for Cricket in India regarding his name being short-listed for the national team's coach position.

Amarnath said he could not comment on the issue since he was yet to hear from the Board.

"I am yet to hear from the board. I would not like to comment till I receive a letter," said Amarnath, who played a stellar role in Kapil's Devils winning the 1983 World Cup in England.

"I had not applied for the post, but merely indicated my interest through the media," said Amarnath who retired from international cricket in 1988.

"I am certainly interested in the job and have the time to devote to it, otherwise I would not have evinced my interest," he added when asked specifically on the issue.

Amarnath, who had earlier coached Bangladesh and Morocco, his erstwhile India teammate Sandeep Patil, Australians Greg Chappell and Tom Moody were the four short-listed by a six-member committee formed by the BCCI which met at Kolkata yesterday to appoint a new coach.

BCCI president Ranbir Singh Mahendra said that efforts were on to get in touch with 2-3 other former internationals, all from abroad, before the final selection was made by June 15.
