Medium pacers Amita Sharma and Jhulan Goswami ran through the Ireland batting line-up as India registered a comfortable nine wicket victory in their second league encounter of the Women's Cricket World Cup in Pretoria, on Thursday.

Sharma (3 for 12) and Goswami (2 for 15) wrecked the opponent's top order as India bowled out Ireland for just 65 runs and then achieved the modest target in just 17.2 overs.

Electing to bat, Ireland lost their first four wickets with just seven runs on the board as Sharma and Goswami shared the spoils.

Though Miriam Grayley tried to steady the sinking ship with a gutsy 38, wickets continued to tumble from the other end as Ireland were skittled out in 42.1 overs. Off spinner Nooshin-Al-Kadeer chipped in with two wickets for 19 runs.

In reply, India lost the wicket of Jaya Sharma (8) with the team score on 22, but Anju Jain (32 not out) and skipper Mithali Raj (21 not out) took them to an easy victory.

The win also gave India six valuable points and took them to second spot in the table with a total of nine.

India's first match against Sri Lanka [Images] was washed out.

Meanwhile, England [Images] thrashed Sri Lanka by 214 runs to take the top spot on a better run rate.

Batting first, England scored 284 for 4 in 50 overs, courtesy of Claire Taylor's quickfire 136 off just 128 balls. In reply, Sri Lanka were bundled out for a paltry 70 in 26 overs.

In other matches, South Africa defeated West Indies [Images] by just one run while Australia beat defending champions New Zealand [Images] by 32 runs.
