BCCI to approach ICC on Harbhajan

March 22, 2005 18:16 IST

The Board of Control for Cricket in India will approach the International Cricket Council over the reporting of Harbhajan Singh's [Images] bowling action after the second Test against Pakistan in Kolkata last week.

"The matter would be taken up with the ICC [Images]," he told reporters in Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Mahendra said that it is surprising that Harbhajan's bowling action had come under suspicion within days of the bowler having worked under a biomechanics expert in Australia.

The off-spinner's 'doosra' delivery had been reported by match referee Chris Broad and the two umpires -- Steve Bucknor [Images] and Darrell Hair -- at the end of the Kolkata Test.

The BCCI chief said that any player's performance would be affected if his action is suspected even after being cleared by the ICC panel.
