Australia vs England

England fast bowler Simon Jones apologises to Australian opener Matthew Hayden after hitting him with the ball during the eighth match of the NatWest Series at Edgbaston in Birmingham, on Tuesday.

Jones apologised to Hayden after hitting him on the shoulder with the ball in a run-out attempt, but the Australian reacted angrily, squaring up to the bowler and exchanging words.

Paul Collingwood, Australia captain Ricky Ponting and umpire Billy Bowden had to intervene to calm the pair.

The match was called off due to rain, after England had reached 37 for one in six overs, replying to the world champions' 261 for nine.
