Off spinner Gareth Batty was added to England's [Images] one-day squad on Wednesday for the triangular series with Australia and Bangladesh.

Batty will provide cover for left-arm spinner Ashley Giles, who missed the two-Test series against Bangladesh with a hip injury.

"Ashley's injury is responding to treatment and we are pleased with the progress he is making," said England and Wales Cricket Board chief medical officer Peter Gregory.

"He will need to continue strengthening work and cricket-specific training at a local level.

"We have not yet specified a date for his return to competitive cricket, but at this stage we anticipate that he will be available to Warwickshire within the next two weeks and we will be monitoring his progress closely."

Batty replaced Giles for both Tests against Bangladesh. He did not bowl a single ball or get a bat in the first Test at Lord's and took one wicket in the second innings at Durham.

England play Australia in a Twenty20 match on Monday before opening the one-day series against Bangladesh three days later.
