Mumbai to host Platinum Jubilee ODI

June 04, 2005 14:29 IST

Mumbai Cricket Association, which is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee year, has been given the green signal by the Board of Control for Cricket in India to host a One-Day International during the forthcoming home season as part of the jubilee celebrations.

"The BCCI's Working Committee confirmed yesterday at Thiruvananthapuram the February 17 proposal of the MCA to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee year with a ODI," said Professor Ratnakar Shetty, MCA's treasurer who attended the BCCI meeting.

"It will be a one-off ODI between the Indian squad and an yet-to-be-confirmed opposition," said Shetty.

"We would also be hosting three Twenty20 matches featuring the Mumbai team against a Rest of the World side as part of the Jubilee celebrations. The exact dates would be known later, but we plan to host them between October and December," Shetty added.

It will be a new experience for Mumbai fans to watch the latest slam-bang version of the game, Twenty20, at the Wankhede Stadium.
