The decision on the Board of Control for Cricket in India 's appeal against the six-match ban slapped on Sourav Ganguly is expected on July 28.

South African Constitutional Court judge Justice Albie Sachs, who is sitting as the sole member of an ICC Disputes Resolution Committee, informed the International Cricket Council on Monday that he would be in a position to announce the decision on Thursday.

Justice Sachs was appointed by the ICC on July 5 to hear Ganguly's case regarding the process used to deal his appeal under the ICC Code of Conduct.

Ganguly was banned for six One-Day Internationals following the team's slow over-rate during the home series against Pakistan in April.

His appeal against the ban was turned down by ICC Appeals Commissioner Michael Beloff. Ganguly requested for an oral hearing but Beloff ruled that arguments presented in text were enough to make a judgment.

The ICC Code of Conduct states, "The decision of the Appeals Commissioner shall be final and binding."

Sachs was presented with the written submissions by the ICC and the BCCI in the dispute over the process used in the appeal against the ban.

Ganguly, meanwhile, has been picked as a provisional member of the Indian team for the one-day triangular series in Sri Lanka, starting on July 30.

With Rahul Dravid leading the side, his chances of joining the team rests on the decision.
