India captain Sourav Ganguly [Images] is on his way back from his stint with English County Glamorgan after coach Greg Chappell [Images] asked him to be present at the upcoming national camp in Bangalore.

Ganguly, who is using a six match ban to get back his form by playing county cricket, has had moderate success with Glamorgan, having scored a century and taken a few wickets.

Ganguly is leaving for India on July 12, much ahead of his scheduled date of return, after Chappell told him that the skipper's presence was essential in the conditioning camp, local reports said.

The skipper has already informed Glamorgan officials about his decision to return to India and there would not be any problem in his release.

Ganguly would, however, return to Glamorgan for a match on July 21-24.

India's next international engagement is a triangular series in Sri Lanka [Images], also featuring West Indies [Images]. But as things stand now, Ganguly would miss the series if the International Cricket Council doesn't lift the ban on him imposed for a slow over rate in the Ahmedabad ODI against Pakistan on April 12.

The ICC [Images] had rejected an earlier petition from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a reprieve for the captain.

Undeterred, the BCCI is again lobbying to have the ban lifted so that Ganguly could participate in the tri-series in Sri Lanka.

It is being speculated that Chappell's call to Ganguly to be present at the Bangalore camp is because there is a possibility that the ban on him would be lifted and he would travel to Sri Lanka.
