Pujara hits unbeaten ton

February 02, 2005 21:33 IST

An unbeaten knock of 162 by opener Cheteshwar Pujara helped Indian colts amass 283 for two in their first innings on the opening day of the third and final 'Test' against England Under-19 at the Keenan stadium in Jamshedpur on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Indian openers Pujara and Pervez Aziz (58) gave a solid foundation to Indian innings, hitting up 109 off 38 overs by lunch.

Pujara was more aggressive right from the start and punished the loose deliveries of the English lads.

Aziz faced 132 deliveries to notch a brilliant 58, which was studded with 10 hits to the fence, during his 173-mintue stay at the crease.
