We are not experimenting, says Chappell

Onkar Singh in Delhi | December 15, 2005 21:59 IST

Team India coach Greg Chappell, who avoided media persons on Wednesday after India registered a convincing victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test, finally to spoke out his mind in an exclusive conversation with rediff.com.

"Obviously, I am pleased that the Indian team gave a good performance and registered a good win over the Sri Lankan team. But I would be happier if the team wins the third and final Test match at Ahmedabad as well," he said on Thursday.

He denied the charge that he is experimenting with the team and forcing certain decisions.

"First of all let me clarify that we are not experimenting at all. All that we are doing is finding solutions to certain problems that need to be sorted out, by rotating batsmen or bowlers according to the need," he claimed.

So have things fallen into the right places?

"I would not say that all the things have fallen into right places, because we still have problems and we are trying our best to sort them out.

"But I must add that the young boys are doing extremely well and giving good account of themselves."

He refused to answer controversial questions, including one on the exclusion of Sourav Ganguly from the team for the third Test.
