Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin has been provided security cover by the Hyderabad police after he allegedly received threatening calls.

"We have provided security to Mohammad Azharuddin on information that there was threat to his life," police said on Tuesday.

Four personal security officers (PSOs) have been deputed to guard to the former skipper.

Asked why the security, Azharuddin told NDTV,  "No, it's nothing. No problem. It's very personal."

To a question whether there is any particular reason for the security, he replied: "No, I don't want to comment on it."
