Himachal Pradesh v/s Saurashtra in Dharmashala

A sparkling unbeaten 92 by Sangram Singh and his two valuable partnerships in the second innings enabled Himachal Pradesh score a stunning four-wicket victory over Saurashtra on the final day of the Plate 'A' Ranji Trophy cricket match in Dharamsala on Sunday.

Chasing 282 to win, the home team resumed play at the overnight score of 135 for three but lost the fourth wicket, of Manvinder, at 161.

Manvinder, who was caught by K M Vaghela of S M Maniar for 70, added only eight runs before his 119-run partnership with Sangram came to an end.

Ajay Manu, who came in next added only three runs to the Himachal total but next batsman, Varinder Sharma, displayed unusual confidence and added 95 runs for the sixth wicket with Sangram before he was caught by S P Jabenputra off R V Dhruv for 54.

Sangram also added 16 runs with Kuldeep Dhiman for the seventh wicket to ensure victory.

Sangram, who resumed the play at individual score of 31, hit 11 boundaries in his unbeaten 92 runs while Varinder's knock of 54 was studded with eight fours and a six.

M Maniar took three wickets for 75 runs while Jobenputra claimed two wickets for 102 runs.

Saurashtra: 268 and 153

Himachal Pradesh: 140 and 282 for six in 74.2 overs.

Haryana v/s Goa in Gurgaon

Haryana thrashed Goa by 153 runs to take four points from their Ranji Trophy plate division cricket match on Sunday.

A superb spell of fast bowling by Joginder Sharma helped Haryana skittle out Goa for 163 in the second innings to complete the comprehensive win despite a valiant attempt by Mandar Phadke, who made an unbeaten 88.

Haryana, who declared their second innings at overnight score of 188 for six, set Goa a target of 317 on the final day. But the visitors got off to a bad start before being bowled out in 68.5 overs in less than five hours.

Joginder Sharma (6 for 48) removed the top three batsmen in quick time to force Goa onto the backfoot.

The visitors could not recover from that position despite some fine batting by Phadke who stayed at the crease for 248 minutes for his knock that came off 191 balls and included five hits to the fence.

Brief scores:

Haryana: 293 and 188 for 6 decl.

Goa: 165 and 163 (Mandar Phadke 88 not out; Joginder Sharma 6-48).

Orissa v/s Kerala in Palakkad

Orissa collected two points by virtue of the first innings lead against Kerala, who remain pointless after their Plate 'A' Ranji Trophy cricket match ended in a tame draw at the Fort Maidan in Palakkad on Sunday.

Resuming at 14 for 1, Kerala were in trouble, losing wickets at regular intervals and were reeling under pressure at 79 for 6 before captain Sunil Oasis effected a declaration, setting Orissa a victory target of 140 runs. Orissa were 47 for the loss of three wickets when stumps were drawn.

Kerala: 324 and 149/8 decl. (Jagadeesh 26, Sunil Oasis 39, N Behera 2/27, S Satpathy 4/41).

Orissa: 334 and 47 for 3 (Subrat Behera 16, T Yohannan 2/26).
