Boje withdraws from India tour

November 03, 2004 21:47 IST

Spinner Nicky Boje has withdrawn from South Africa's two-Test tour to India later this month because he feared being detained over a police match-fixing investigation, his lawyer said on Wednesday.

Left-arm spinner Boje, who was named as vice-captain in the tour squad, was undecided about the tour because he wanted an assurance that he would not be detained in connection with the Delhi investigation.

South Africa will play two Tests in India next month. The first will be at Kanpur, from November 20 to 24, while the second Test will be at Kolkata from November 28 to December 2.
