Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has sued two of his compatriots and sought ten crore rupees as compensation for the damages caused to his reputation and mental agony caused by the duo who had filed cases against him questioning his comments in the media.

After the suit filed by Shoaib, Civil Judge of Lahore, Farukh Hasan summoned Syed Muzammal Hussain Shah and Syed Najamul Abbas Shah for hearing on July 5.

The two had earlier filed cases against Shoaib for his reported statement that his future would have been better if he had been born in Australia and for his appearance in a fashion show.

The court earlier struck down their case. The two had approached the court and claimed they were hurt by comments of Shoaib as well as his appearance in the fashion show -- acts which they believed has brought a bad name to the country.

The two failed to establish the charges and the Civil Court dismissed the case with cost. Shoaib therefore filed a counter case against the two through his counsel Taffazal Haider Rizvi claiming Rs seven crore as compensation for the damage his "reputation received from the malicious prosecution" and Rs three crore for the "mental agony" that he suffered.
