Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, who took over his new job only this weekend, will be returning to England on Wednesday for "some coaching assignment".

It was learnt that the Englishman would join the Pakistan team in Sri Lanka, venue for the Asia Cup one-day tournament starting on July 16, according to local daily 'The Dawn'.

The development means Woolmer, who replaced Javed Miandad as the chief national coach, will only be spending four days at the camp. The team is likely to be announced on Wednesday, the day Woolmer will leave.     

The camp for the 26 probables started on June 28 but the coach had reported three days late on Saturday.

Meanwhile, captain Inzamam-ul Haq said paceman Umar Gul would be considered for selection for Asia Cup as the reports of his MRI and bone-test had come out clear.

"Yes, Umar's tests are clear and now the selectors will consider him for the Asia Cup," Inzamam said.

Gul was instrumental in scripting a win for his side in the second Test against India during the March-April series, which India won 2-1.

Inzamam said he had discussion with chief selector Wasim Bari and Woïlmer on the composition of the team yesterday but it ended without any decision being reached.

"The coach wants to personally watch each and every player in the camp and currently he is not in a position to give a genuine opinion about them," he said.

Asked to give his view on the long training session yesterday, which began at 9am and continued till 4.30 pm in scorching heat, the captain said every coach had a different way of working and Woolmer had his own.
