England 'A' to take part in Duleep Trophy

January 04, 2004 20:08 IST

The England 'A' team would participate in the inter-zonal Duleep Trophy cricket tournament starting on February 14.

Announcing this at Kolkata on Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya said England A's participation as the sixth team in the tournament was cleared by the working committee which met during the day.

The working committee's nod is in line with the earlier decision of the BCCI to allow a foreign team to take part in the Duleep Trophy.

Dalmiya said owing to weather conditions, the knock-out phase of the under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy has been shifted from North Zone to West Zone.

Schedule of the Duleep Trophy, all matches of which would be held in the North Zone.

February 14-17: South Zone vs East Zone, West Zone vs Central Zone

February 21-24: England 'A' vs South Zone, North Zone vs Central Zone

February 27-Mar 1: England 'Al vs East Zone, North Zone vs West Zone

March 5-9: Final.
