Pakistan tour delayed by a week

February 20, 2004 22:08 IST

India's first Test tour of Pakistan in 14 years will be delayed by a week due to logistical problems, including security.

"The tour will be delayed by about a week," Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya told reporters on Friday.

"It shouldn't start later than the second week of March but the team won't be able to go earlier because we are trying to fully cover all points, security as well," he said.

Dalmiya said a final schedule would be announced on Saturday.

A BCCI security team, which visited Pakistan under guard last week to assess the situation, is reported to have expressed concerns over Karachi and Peshawar as Test venues.

The tour, India's first to Pakistan since 1989-90, will comprise three Tests and five One-Day Internationals.
