SC issues notice to Zaheer

February 06, 2004 20:35 IST

The Supreme Court issued notice to cricketer Zaheer Khan on a petition filed by his former management firm, Percept D'mark, challenging a Mumbai high court order which vacated its interim order, restraining him from forging a tie-up with tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi's management firm 'Globosport'.

A bench comprising Justice R C Lahoti and Justice Ashok Bhan issued the notice and posted the matter for final disposal while maintaining the interim order passed by the high court.

The high court, in its December 19 order, directed Zaheer to deposit in a sealed cover any agreement that he may have entered into after November 20 with any third party from endorsements, promotion, advertisements or marketing agency.

This restriction was imposed for four weeks to enable Percept D'mark to approach the Supreme Court.

Zaheer was also directed to deposit in a sealed cover in the court the account of money received from such endorsements, promotion, advertisements or marketing agency.
