Victorious Indian team returns home

December 28, 2004 20:00 IST

The Indian cricket team on Tuesday returned home after a successful Test and one-day series in Bangladesh.

The team came by an Indian Airlines flight and touched down at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at 5:15 pm IST.

There was utter chaos at the airport as a large number of onlookers and media persons surrounded the cricketers as soon as they came out of the international terminal.

Skipper Sourav Ganguly was the most inconvenienced. As a large number of lensmen, electronic media personnel and onlookers jammed the exit, security personnel had to take Ganguly back to the terminal building before leading him out through a separate door.

The security personnel literally shoved the scribes away before bundling Ganguly into his car, which immediately headed for his residence in South Kolkata.

The other team members took connecting domestic flights to their respective destinations.

India whitewashed Bangladesh in the two-Test series and defeated the hosts 2-1 in the shorter version of the game.
