Bangla tour of India shelved

December 28, 2004 17:58 IST

Bangladesh will not tour India in April next year as planned, the country's Cricket Board President Asghar Ali has said.

"I have had talks with the officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and it has been decided that we will not tour India in April," the BCB Chief was quoted as saying in the Daily Star.

He said time constraint was the reason for shelving what would have been Bangladesh cricket team's first ever visit to India.

"It is mainly because both the sides pressed for time," he said.

While India host Pakistan in March-April, Bangladesh are scheduled to play in England in early May, hence it was hard to find time between the two series, Asghar said.

"But the BCCI has assured me that they will host us later next year," he added.
