December 08, 2004 13:41 IST

The 15-member Indian cricket team arrived at Dhaka on Wednesday amidst tight security for a tour which had come under a cloud because of a death threat by a militant group.

The team was received by top officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and immediately taken to it's hotel.

The Indian Government had yesterday given a partial go-ahead to the tour for the first Test match beginning here on Friday.

The five-member security delegation will visit Chittagong, the other venue, today to make an assessment of the threat perception there before clearing that segment.

India is scheduled to play two Test matches and three one-day internationals during their 22-day tour.
