Tendulkar bats for physically challenged

August 08, 2004 20:45 IST

Sachin Tendulkar, who contributes significantly towards charity, has come to the aid of the physically challenged people in gaining smooth access into the spectators' enclosures inside cricket grounds in India.

The ace batsman has resquested in a letter written to the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) to ask all match staging centres in India to provide ramps for the comfortable entry of the physically challenged people into the stands.

The matter came up for discussion at the BCCI's Working Committee meeting held last month in Delhi and the committee members sympathised with Tendulkar's views on the matter, board sources said in Mumbai on Sunday.

It was then decided that the Board would write to all match staging associations to erect ramps and enable physically challenged persons to enter the stands with the minimum amount of discomfort, the sources added.
