Discipline is key to our success: Ponting

April 03, 2004 21:25 IST

Australian captain Ricky Ponting has attributed his team's phenomenal success on the cricket field to "discipline".

"Discipline of the Australian team extends to very minute details including practice, dress and also studying the rival teams' performance," Ponting told a function organised by the Indira Group of Management Studies and cricketnext.com in Pune on Friday night.

Ponting, who led Australia to a Test series whitewash of Sri Lanka in March, said his team also analyses the games of the rival teams by studying their strengths and weaknesses.

"The focus is also to ensure that we must not concede extras through wides and no balls," he said.

Ponting also lauded the performance of the Indian team in Pakistan.
