Sehwag to lead Delhi

September 10, 2003 20:22 IST

Star batsman Virender Sehwag has been named skipper of the Delhi Ranji Trophy team for the upcoming season. Seasoned campaigner Mithun Manhas was named his deputy.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association also released a list of 43 other players, who have been called for selection trials for the 2003-04 season on September 20.

India speedster Ashish Nehra and former Delhi skipper and wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya also figure in that list.

Besides a new skipper, the Delhi team, which made it to the semi-finals the previous season, will also have a new coach in Madan Lal, who replaces the firebrand Bishen Singh Bedi.

Delhi are placed in the Elite section in the Ranji Trophy.
