Saluting the Legends

Dilip Vengsarkar is the first batsman to score three centuries against England at Lord's. His tally in four Tests at Lord's: 508 runs at an average of 72.57. 0 & 103 in 1979, 2 & 157 in 1982, 126 not out and 33 in 1986, 52 and 35 in 1990.

No Indian -- not even Vengsarkar -- has so dominated a Test as Mankad did. Dropped from the Indian team for inexplicable reasons, he was hastily brought back into the side. Opening the batting, he scored 72 and 184 then took 5 wickets. England won by eight wickets but the Lord's Test in 1952 will always be remembered as Mankad's Test.
