A day after his selection to the Pakistan team for a One-Day International cricket series against New Zealand, Junaid Zia, son of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Tauqir Zia, pulled out of the team on personal grounds.

Junaid, an all-rounder, pulled out of the team for the five One-Day Internationals to be played between November 29  and December 7 as "he has to prepare for his exams," a statement from the PCB on Saturday said.

Umar Gul, who was selected in the Pakistan 'A' team for a tour of India from December 13 to 21, has been drafted in as a replacement for Junaid.

Junaid made his debut in One-Day Internationals against Bangladesh but was dropped after failing to get wickets.

He, however, performed well in the under-19 tournament in Sri Lanka involving India and Pakistan and the hosts.
