Andhra beat Baroda by seven wickets

November 17, 2003 20:18 IST

The speedsters did the trick for Andhra Pradesh in a seven-wicket victory over Baroda on the penultimate day of the Ranji Trophy Elite 'A' cricket match in Vadodara on Monday.

Pacemen Shabuddin, Kalyan Krishna and M S K Prasad captured three wickets each today as the hosts were bundled out for 105 in their second innings in 40.1 overs.

Needing 92 runs for victory, Andhra reached the target losing three wickets. Amit Pathak, K A Faiyazahmed and Venuggopal Rao were the batsmen out.

Andhra captain Prasad, ignored for the India team to play at home against Sri Lanka 'A', put behind the disappointment to lead his team to victory and retain its position behind Mumbai and Delhi in the Elite 'A' group.

This is Andhra's first victory in the Ranji Trophy this season and gives them four points.
