Triangular 'A' tourney shifted to Kolkata

November 16, 2003 01:04 IST

The triangular series involving the 'A' teams of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held in Bangalore next month, has been shifted to Kolkata.

Disclosing this, Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya told reporters in Kolkata yesterday that the dates for the tournament -- December 14 through 21 -- would, however, remain unchanged.

Dalmiya said the under-17 Asia Cup will be held in January. Details of the schedule will be worked out at a meeting in Kolkata on November 18, the day of the TVS Cup Tri-series final.

Asian Cricket Council chief executive Ashraful Haque will attend the meeting.

Dalmiya said sports psychologist Sandy Gordon, who did a stint with the Indian team during the World Cup in South Africa earlier this year, has been asked to draw up a programme for the junior players.

Gordon has been visiting different cricketing centres in India for the past fortnight and meeting players, administrators, and technical staff to get to know the Indian psyche, based on which he will formulate the programme.

"I have asked him to be here at the Eden Gardens during the tri-series final and get an idea of the crowd psyche in India," Dalmiya said.

Gordon will be meeting Dalmiya on November 19.

The board has also decided to convene the second spinners' conclave in Kolkata on November 19.

Dalmiya said Cricket Australia president Bob Merriman will watch the tri-series final along with three of his directors.

Bangladesh Cricket Board chief executive officer Ali Asgar will also be present, along with some other BCB officials.

The match will begin at 1430 IST and is schedueld to end at 2215 IST. If there is any delay because of unforeseen circumstances, play will be extended by an hour without curtailing the number of overs.

If the match cannot be finished even in the extra time allotted, a curtailment of overs will be considered.
