Australia recall Lehmann for sixth ODI

May 30, 2003 11:32 IST

Australia have recalled batsman Darren Lehmann from injury for Friday's sixth one-day international against the West Indies as the tourists bid to rebound from a rare defeat.

The 33-year-old left-hander, who has played in two World Cup-winning sides, returns after recovering from a calf strain. Lehmann suffered the injury in the opening match of the seven-game series which Australia lead 4-1.

Two other two-time World Cup winners, batsman Michael Bevan and fast bowler Glenn McGrath, would miss the game with groin muscle strains, the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) said in a statement.

Ian Harvey and Michael Clarke have been overlooked after Australia's world record winning streak of 21 matches ended last Sunday when the West Indies clinched a 39-run victory in Trinidad.

Australia also recalled spinner Brad Hogg, paceman Jason Gillespie and opening batsman Matthew Hayden.
