Yuvraj, Sehwag fall cheaply

May 22, 2003 18:42 IST

It was a not-too-happy County debut for India batsman Yuvraj Singh. He could score just 11 runs for Yorkshire on the opening day of the four-day Frizzell County championship match against Glamorgan, at Headingley, on Thursday.

Batting at No.3, barely 24 hours after arriving in London, Yuvraj lasted just 14 balls.

But the one-day specialist did provide a tantalising glimpse of his stroke-play, drawing warm applause for a sumptuous square drive, before edging Michael Kasprowicz to slip.

Yorkshire managed to make 190 for nine, thanks to contributions from Gary Fellows (53) and Michael Lumb (39).

Though Yuvraj is yet to play in a Test for India, he was roped in by the county side for his aggressive batting.

Yuvraj's teammate Virender Sehwag too fared poorly.

Playing for Leicestershire, Sehwag was out for 10, leaving his team struggling at 19 for three, in reply to Middlesex's score of 201 runs in the rain-hit tie.
