Australia skipper Steve Waugh notched his 30th Test century on the second day of the third cricket Test against the West Indies at Kensington Oval, surpassing Sir Don Bradman's record of 29.

Playing his 159th Test, more than any Australian, Waugh was finally bowled by fast bowler Jermaine Lawson for 115 after tea. Soon after, he declared Australia's first innings at 605 for 9.

Bradman, regarded as the greatest batsman in cricket history, scored his 29 centuries in 52 Tests in a career that ran from 1930 to 1948.

Waugh was lucky to survive three missed catches by the ragged West Indies fielders on the way. He was dropped by
Ramnaresh Sarwan at short mid-wicket off fast bowler Vasbert Drakes on 11, by Sarwan again at deep mid-wicket from off-spinner Omari Banks on 57, and by wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh down the leg-side off Lawson on 85.
