Chappell impressed with Zaheer

July 03, 2003 21:54 IST

Former Australia captain Greg Chappell is impressed with Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan's impatience to expand his cricketing knowledge and is eargerly waiting to watch the left-handed paceman in action Down Under later this year.

"He is very talented and like all youngsters is impatient to learn quickly," said Chappell.

"It will be exciting to watch him and Ashish Nehra in action when India tours Australia later this year."

Chappell had a first-hand look at Zaheer Khan when he visited the MRF Pace Foundation to share his coaching expertise earlier this week. Zaheer is currently at the MRF for a month to learn new tricks and get into the groove before New Zealand arrives for a two-Test and a triangular series in September-November later this year.

"He is like any other good player in the sense that he is naturally balanced, which conveys he has been brought up in a good, sporting environment," commented Chappell.

Zaheer and Nehra have forged a good partnership in recent times and picked 73 and 37 Test wickets in their 24 and 13 Tests respectively.
