Yashpal Singh props Services

December 01, 2003 22:36 IST

Yashpal Singh's 47 and a 64-run second-wicket partnership paved the way for Services to score a modest 212 all out in the first innings on the opening day of their four-day Plate 'B' Ranji Trophy match against Goa at the Gymkhana grounds in Panaji on Monday.

At stumps, the hosts were three for no loss with Shagun Kamat (2) and Swapnil Asnodkar (1) at the crease.

After a shaky start, losing their first wicket with just eight runs on board, the visitors got their act together and took their score to 72 for two, thanks to a 64-run second-wicket partnership between Amit Pal Singh (37) and Jasbir Singh (36).

C D Thomson (31) and K S Chawada (24) were the other batsmen who shone for Services.
