Chetan Sharma shines for Haryana

Haryana were comfortably placed on 242 for 3 at close on the first day of the Plate 'A' Ranji Trophy match against Tripura in Rohtak on Monday.

A fine 74-run knock by Chetan Sharma was the highlight of the day's play.

Haryana skipper Jitender Singh (26), who won the toss and elected to bat, and Sharma gave the team a good start, putting on 111 runs for the first wicket.

Ishan Ganda (39 not out) and Sunny Singh (67) added 117 runs for the third wicket.

Ganda and Mahesh Rawat (unbeaten on 8) were at the crease when stumps were drawn for the day.

Sonu Sharma picked two wickets while Ashish Kapoor scalped one for the visitors.
