The India 'A' tour of England

Opener Shiv Sundar Das is looking forward to a good showing in the upcoming Irani Cup and two warm-up games against the visiting New Zealanders to force his way back to the national cricket team ahead of the home series.

Shiv Sundar Das"I want to do really well in the Irani Cup and two side-games against New Zealand," Das told reporters at the conditioning camp for Indian probables in Bangalore on Friday.

Das led India 'A' on the recent tour of England, except for the one-day games, for which the team was captained by Hemang Badani.

"After the West Indies tour, I did not do well in England, where Virender Sehwag and Sanjay Bangar did well. I had a good England tour with India 'A' where I got more than 400 runs. Now I am looking forward to do well in Irani Cup and two side-matches against New Zealand," he said.

He added: The India 'A' tour of England was a good experience;  the batsmen and medium-pacers really did well."

He said leading the side was "challenging" but satisfying, "especially the team's performance against South Africa, and the fact that the team did not lose a single match".

Das was disappointed to be excluded from the India 'A' one-day team as he was really looking forward to the limited-overs games. "But one has to go by the decision of the selectors," he said.
