Lele to file defamation case against BCA officials

August 07, 2003 20:12 IST

Former Cricket Board secretary Jaywant Lele said on Thursday that he would file a defamation case against officials of Baroda Cricket Association for "maligning his image".

Lele also refuted charges of misappropriation of funds and administrative lapses levelled against him and two others -- former joint secretary Pradeep Desai and former treasurer Ramesh Dalvi -- by the BCA officials.

Alleging that the committee appointed by BCA to look into the charges levelled against them was unconstitutional as it consisted of only one member, Lele told reporters that the BCA constitution provided for appointment of a multi-member and not a one-man inquiry committee.

Without casting any aspersion on anybody, he said the one-man inquiry committee is likely to support the appointee.

The BCA secretaries -- Kiran More, S R Gaikwad and vice-president Dr G M Oza -- had, in a press conference held at Vadodra last week, announced expulsion of Lele, Desai and Dalvi for life from the life-membership of BCA.
