Dravid to wed Nagpur girl

April 02, 2003 02:47 IST

India vice-captain Rahul Dravid will soon tie the knot with Nagpur-based doctor, Vijeta Pendharkar.

Confirming the marriage, Dr Vijeta's father, S P Pendharkar, a retired IAF wing commander, informed that Dravid has a long association with his family.

"The marriage is fixed but the date has not been decided so far. The wedding, though, will take place in May this year," he said.

Asked whether the marriage will be held in Nagpur, Pendharkar said the venue would be decided later.

"It may also be solemnised in Bangalore. We will hold talks with Dravid and his relatives in this regard," he added.

Dr Vijeta did her Masters in Surgery (General) in November 2002 from Government Medical College, Nagpur. Her mother, Jayshree, is a dietician while her elder brother is in the Indian Army. Another brother is working in Dubai.

Having retired from the IAF, Mr Pendharkar is now working with the Central Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (CIINS).

A PTI report said the marriage would be solemnised on May 4 in Bangalore and it would be followed by a reception in Nagpur on May 10.
