Craig White joins England squad

All-rounder Craig White has been included in the England squad touring Australia to cover for the injured Andrew Flintoff.

England coach Duncan Fletcher said in a statement on Thursday that White, who is also on the comeback from injury, had been asked to join the squad while Flintoff receives treatment to his groin.

"Craig performed well against India this (northern) summer and is now fully recovered from injury," Fletcher said.

"He will provide us with cover in the all-rounder position until Andrew Flintoff is able to return to competitive cricket."

White, 32, was already in Australia playing club cricket in Adelaide and would join the rest of the team in Perth on Friday.

Meanwhile Flintoff, who underwent groin surgery just seven weeks ago, will fly to Adelaide on Thursday to see a specialist in the hope he can make it back for the first Ashes Test against Australia starting in Brisbane on November 7.
